MY EXPERIENCE AS A PRINCIPAL FOR AN HOUR

Women cell of SNIT, Adoor organized a women empowerment program on 25th July, 2022 on behalf of Draupadi Murmu’s oath-taking ceremony. As part of this program, seven girls from various departments were selected by the Principal of SNIT Adoor, for the posts of Head of the institution and Heads of various departments and handover the power for an hour.

I, Bhagyalekshmi P. of S6 Civil Engineering was selected as assumed Principal for an hour. When the Principal announced my name for the post of head of the institution, I was shocked and became a little bit nervous. Along with the Principal Dr. Shaji Mohan B. and Dr. Keshav Mohan, Academic Chairman, I went to other departments to meet and congratulate the student HoDs and invited them for a meeting.

Department of Civil Engineering HoD, Ms. Riyana M.S. and Academic Chairman Keshav Mohan seated me in the Principal’s chair and handedover the power of Principal in the presence of Dr. Shaji Mohan B., Principal of SNIT Adoor, for an hour. The moment I was seated in that chair, I was filled with joy and pride. It was the most precious ‘60 minutes’ in my life.

In the presence of the Principal and HoDs, I, the assumed student Principal and the student HoDs held a meeting in which the new changes to be made in the college were discussed. That one hour taught me a lot and I was able to understand at least a little about what a person sitting in such a big position as a principal should do and what his responsibilities are. I was proud and happy, at the same time thankful to God for getting this opportunity that many people dreamt of.

Thank you.

Bhagyalekshmi P.
