Solar Energy

In our college, 50kW solar power plant installed on the rooftop, comes under the Grid Interactive Distributed Solar Energy Systems, which aims to generate nearly 6000kWh energy production per month and is utilized for the daily energy needs of the institution, and the excess energy will be sold to grid; as well as taken from grid whenever there is an energy demand.

World’s Standards Day

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student branch at SNIT in association with IEEE Kerala YP organized a session on Standards Day. The Speaker for the webinar was Mr. Madhusoodhanan Nair M, Associate Engineer, Electrical Section,  Enathu, Adoor. It was conducted on EEE Seminar Hall, SNIT, Adoor. The event discusses the vision of Standards day and the programs conducted based on this was make a quote competition, quiz competition, speech competition.
The day helps to to raise awareness among regulators, industry and consumers as to the importance of standardization to the global economy. Also the day honors the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations.

APPLICATION OF MACHINE LEARNING IN THE SMART MANAGEMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS

The Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) Student Chapter of Sree Narayana Institute of Technology had organized a power packed and vibrant live webinar program on the topic: “APPLICATION OF MACHINE LEARNING IN THE SMART MANAGEMENT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS”. The speaker for the session was Dr. Veena Raj, a lecturer in Info Communication System at the Faculty of Integrated Technologies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Also we were blessed with  the ѕurprise viѕit of Dr C.S Αzad Phd , Natíonal ѕecretary SEEM. The combination of renewable energy sources and smart grid is a sustainable solution to cater to the problem of energy demand management. A pressing need is to develop an efficient Energy Management Model that integrates renewable energy sources with smart grids. However, the variable scenarios and constraints make this a complex problem. Machine Learning methods can often model complex and non-linear data better than the statistical models. Therefore, developing an ML algorithm for the EMM is a suitable option as it reduces the complexity.

CAMPUS TO CORPORATE TRANSITIONS

The Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) Student Chapter of Sree Narayana Institute of Technology had organized a power packed and vibrant live webinar program on the topic: “CAMPUS TO CORPORATE TRANSITIONS”. The speaker for the session was Mr . P Deiva Balan, Senior manager in M/S Raine Madras, General manager in M/S Hanon Automotive System India private limited. One of the biggest challenges every student goes through is the transition from college to corporate life. All of a sudden, there is a transition from assignments & mid-semesters to team work and deadlines. Professors are focused on enhancing learning quotient. They look at improving subject matter understanding; evaluate on the overall learning ability and perhaps to an extent on the implementation. From a manager’s perspective, there is a constant pressure to deliver and meet deadlines using the existing and derived knowledge. Every company has its own culture , so the number one priority should be to understand it and blend into it, without compromising your own professional goals. In essence, this means learning the subtle differences between policies and politics.

GRID MODERNIZATION: RENEWABLE ENERGY AND SMART GRID SYSTEM

On June 19h 2021, The Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) Student Chapter of Sree Narayana Institute of Technology had organized a power packed and vibrant live webinar program on the topic: “GRID MODERNIZATION: RENEWABLE ENERGY AND SMART GRID SYSTEM”. The speaker for the session was Mr. John McDonald, Smart grid business development leader at GE Grid Solutions, CIGRE Distinguished Member, IEEE Life Fellow 50 years 6 months. Smart grid technology is enabling the effective management and distribution of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen. As smart grid technology becomes more promising, both local and federal governments are exploring potential grid improvements. The smart grid connects a variety of distributed energy resource assets to the power grid.

SOLAR ENERGY GRID TIED SYSTEM

The Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) Student Chapter of Sree Narayana Institute of Technology had organized a power packed and vibrant live webinar program on the topic: “SOLAR ENERGY GRID TIED SYSTEM”. The speaker for the session was Mr. Bernard Jose, Senior engineer at Trane Technologies ETC Banglore. A grid-tied solar system is one that is connected to the electrical power grid. The system is reliant on this grid to produce usable solar energy and funnel excess energy for net metering, clean energy credits, or later usage. Some of the major reasons for installing grid-tied solar are saving money, saving the environment, increasing property value , standardizing or eliminating utility bill and taking advantage of tax credits and incentives
